The Backstory

My career journey began with the second wave of the web as it began to invade our lives in new and unexpected ways. With a background rooted entirely in visual design I had much to learn about user centered design and the broad discipline it would become. Unlike many designers, I was lucky enough to begin my UX journey in the early 2010's while under the mentorship of a Sr. UX Designer. My first exposure to the discipline set me on a whole new path as I took my first steps into learning UX in any way I could. Boot camps, online classes, books, meet ups, all had their place.

Since that role I’ve continued building upon that experience. Since 2017, I’ve primarily specialized in user interface and experience design for enterprise-level software. As my skillset has matured, so has my ability to produce frictionless and streamlined products. Along the way I've learned a few important lessons too. First, that communication is the critical factor that the UX process hinges on. Secondly, when a hypothesis starts to take the hits we're ready for it because that’s what UX does — we plan, test, make adjustments, and try again while always keeping sight of what matters most.

The What's Up UX?! Podcast

What's Up Ux Podcast
What's Up UX?! is a weekly podcast targeting those newer to the world of UX. Co-host Jen Tran proposed the idea in early 2020 and our first episode was recorded in early July. At the time of this writing we've just completed season 1 consisting of 21 episodes.

Our podcast focus is on helping fellow UX'ers navigate the already complex world of landing a UX job but with the added challenge of doing so in the post Covid era. What's Up UX hopes to return in late 2023.
